“I hate good taste. It’s the worst thing that can happen to a creative person”
This item is named after the German / Australian, Jewish, photographer Helmut Newton (1920 – 2004). At the age of 18 Newton (born Neustädter) left Germany after he briefly interned in a concentration camp on Kristallnacht, he arrived at Singapore. There he started his photography career at the local English newspaper and in 1940 moved to Australia. He became a provocative fashion photographer widely known for the erotically black-and-white photos he made for fashion magazines like Vogue.
