Bambù: Dance in Hul le Kes

March 27, 2024

To celebrate spring and life, the modern dance company Introdans presents SPRING, a program focusing on the work of choreographer Mauro Bigonzetti. A highlight of the program is Bambù, a new creation he crafted for the Introdans ensemble, featuring costumes designed and made by Hul le Kes.

On Friday, March 22, the world premiere of Bambù took place in Nijmegen. Sixteen dancers clad in Hul le Kes attire moved to the rhythm of modern electronic music composed by Federico Bigonzetti, Mauro Bigonzetti’s son. Inspired by Japanese poetry, Mauro Bigonzetti infused the choreography with a sense of poetic beauty, enhanced by the earthy tones and natural dye baths of the clothing.

Bambù’s attire included several Hul le Kes classics such as the Stein Tanktop, Pollock Trousers, Monet Trousers, Rodin Shirt, Corneille Trousers, Matisse Shirt, Cocteau Tshirt, Pollock Shorts, Kapoor Tunic, and many others. All upcycled and sustainable garments, often dyed with plant based ingredients at the Hul le Kes Manufacturing Studio and Hul le Kes Recovery Studio.

The SPRING performance can be seen in various theaters in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany. For the full schedule, click here.
