Receiving the Cutluurfonds Mode Stipendium 2026

June 3, 2026

With enormous gratitude, we are honoured to share that Hul le Kes is the recipient of the 15th Cultuurfonds Mode Stipendium 2026.

This recognition feels deeply personal to us. Not only because it is the most prestigious award within the Dutch fashion landscape, but because it acknowledges the world we have been building over the past years. A world where fashion, craftsmanship, humanity, care and creativity are inseparably connected.

Rethinking fashion

Years ago, we decided to step away from the traditional fashion system because we felt increasingly disconnected from its speed, overproduction and constant pursuit of perfection. We wanted to create something different. Something slower, more human and more connected to the people and materials involved.

From that desire, Hul le Kes was born. Not simply as a fashion label, but as a movement towards an alternative system. A system in which existing textiles are given new life and garments become carriers of stories, memories and character. A world where imperfection is not hidden, but embraced as part of beauty itself.

Humanity at the core

At Hul le Kes, fashion has never been only about clothing. It is equally about the people behind it. Our studios are not just production spaces, but places for recovery, development and connection. Within the Hul le Kes Recovery Studio, people repair textiles while simultaneously working on their own personal recovery journey.

The rhythm of handwork, of natural dyes, repetition and craftsmanship creates calm and focus in a world that often moves too fast. We strongly believe that care for materials should go hand in hand with care for people. That philosophy continues to shape every aspect of Hul le Kes.

A new creative chapter

Receiving the Cultuurfonds Mode Stipendium feels like a turning point for us. Over the past years, much of our focus has been dedicated to building a strong social and circular foundation behind the scenes. This recognition now gives us the freedom to further expand the artistic and conceptual universe of Hul le Kes.

In the coming years, we want to create more space for experimentation, visual storytelling and artistic depth. For textile objects, garments and installations that allow us to express and share the emotional and tactile language of Hul le Kes in different ways. While remaining rooted in craftsmanship, imperfection, human connection and in collaboration with nature.

Introducing Hul le Kes Collectable

As part of this new chapter we are now introducing two new additions within the Hul le Kes universe: Hul le Kes Collectable and Hul le Kes Monumental. Hul le Kes Collectable presents unique garments in limited and numbered editions. Exploring the relationship between material, texture and storytelling through a more collectible and artistic lens.

Alongside this we have shown the first Hul le Kes Monumental pieces during the presentation for the Cultuurfonds Mode Stipendium. Hul le Kes Monumental opens the door towards more expressive and spatial creations. A place where fashion and textile art come together. Allowing us to further explore the emotional and artistic possibilities of our work, with garments for special occasions, such as weddings and red carpet events.

Special sales moments

The first Hul le Kes Collectables are now available through our webshop. Have a look at each piece, their special packaging and certificates, here online. Or visit the special pop up at Jones Arnhem from June 4 until June 20. Jones Arnhem invited us to set up a full Hul le Kes corner to celebrate us getting the Cultuurfonds Mode Stipendium 2026. Jones can be found at Eiland 6, Arnhem, right in the heart of the city.

Besides that we would like to invite you to visit our Open Studio on Friday June 12. Between 13.00 and 17.00 we open the doors of our studios at the Van Oldenbarneveldtstraat 79a, Arnhem to show you our working process. Then from June 25 until June 28 we welcome you again at our studios, but this time for our Stocksale, as part of the Arnhemse Stock & Design Dagen.

That said, back to today; the day we got the Cultuurfonds Mode Stipendium 2026. Because above all, this moment fills us with gratitude.

To everyone who has supported Hul le Kes, worn our garments, visited our studios or believed in our vision over the years: THANK YOU! This recognition does not feel like an ending, but like the beginning of a new chapter. A confirmation that there is space for a softer, slower and more human approach to fashion.

With love and gratitude,

Sjaak Hullekes and Sebastiaan Kramer
