Our history with Duncan goes back to one of the defining moments of his career. In 2019, we had the privilege of dressing him for his winning Eurovision Song Contest performance of Arcade. For that performance, we created an outfit from antique linen, dyed in deep shades of blue to become part of the almost entirely blue world surrounding him on stage.
A quiet silhouette, a piano, blue light and that voice. It became an image we will never forget.
When Eurovision later came to Rotterdam, Duncan once again invited us to develop two custom looks for his performances. Other collaborations followed over the years, making the opportunity to work together again now feel all the more meaningful.
After stepping to the background from life as a performing artist for two years, Duncan chose Carré for his return to the stage. And for that return, he came back to our studio.
There is something beautiful about that. We believe clothes can become markers of certain chapters in our lives. They carry memories of where we have been, but can equally accompany us when something new begins.
For Duncan’s return, we wanted to create an outfit that felt expressive without overpowering him. Something with movement and depth, with the marks of the hand still visible.
We created special natural dye baths exclusively for the look, allowing colour to develop organically rather than aiming for complete uniformity. The result became a special edition of our Pollock Trousers, combined with a woollen Oudolf Coat and a custom top shaped through soft gathering.
Each element had its own texture and movement, but together they formed a single silhouette. From the blue antique linen of Arcade to naturally dyed fabrics at Carré, our paths have crossed at several meaningful moments. We are deeply grateful that, for his return, they crossed again.
