Hul le Kes Finalist at the Ignite Award

September 11, 2020

Behind the scenes we are busy developing a social mending atelier. A place where people can work who need a break from, or do not fit in, our stressful society. Hul le Kes is now nominated for the Ignite Award, an award for social entrepreneurship in the East of the Netherlands.

The mending atelier offers a place to people with knowledge of or affinity with fashion and clothing, people who cannot find a suitable workplace on the regular labor market. They dye, embroider and mend cloths at the workshop. As with know all Hul le Kes items are almost entirely made from existing materials and products and need some adjustment from time to time this we will do with this team of people.

The repetition and peace of this manual work has a therapeutic effect. Working at the atelier will therefore offer them the opportunity to acquire social and work skills. The group of employees within the atelier is as diverse as possible in age and social background. Old craft techniques are thus passed on from one generation to the next.

With Hul le Kes we offer a new system in fashion and a renewed value to its products and people. We believe in the imperfection of our clothes and our employees, there is no reason to ignore it there are only reasons to underline them. That is the starting point for a great product and a special team.
