“The more I paint the more I like everything”
-Jean-Michel Basquiat
This item is named after Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960 – 1988), an American artist, born in Brooklyn, New York. Sjaak gets inspiration from his dark and shady, yet beautiful art. Basquiat transitioned from a homeless guy to a great artist selling work for up to $25,000. We hope this gives inspiration to the people working at the Hul le Kes Recovery Studio, and to you too. Unfortunately he died at the age of 27 on an overdose of heroin, which shows how harsh and overwhelming our world can be to people; unfortunately.
