“For me, painting has always been the representative of visual life”
– Bart van der Leck
This item is named after the Dutch artist Bart van der Leck (1876 – 1958), one of the first artists to become involved with De Stijl magazine. Sjaak’s favorite movement in art, color, line, design interplay and research. Leck limited his palette to primary colours – red, yellow and blue – along with neutral white, black and grey. He always took a recognisable design as his starting point, reducing this to a composition of pure, geometrical forms. Aming to achieve ‘monumental clarity’.
