“Every good painter paints what he is”
–Jackson Pollock
Sjaak is very much inspired by the action painting, the beautiful sense of color, rawness and his reflection of the Zeitgeist by Jackson Pollock (1912 – 1956). A true genius who used liquid household paint to make his widely known paintings. Most famous are his paintings, known as his “drip period”. After 1951 Pollock’s work became darker in color, now referred to as his ‘black pourings’. Pollock painted all his paintings on to a horizontal surface such as the floor of his studio.
