Hul le Kes for Introdans

July 7, 2022

Hul le Kes was asked to design the costumes of a new choreography (by the name of NEST) by the dance company Introdans. Instead of using new materials and making new garments, which will only be used for the performances, Hul le Kes decided to use existing garments. The garments have been collected by Introdans at their own dancers and were found at the local recycling center 2Switch.

Choreographer Adriaan Luteijn is known for his series of Encounters between professional and non-professional dancers. For the choreography Nest, a jubilee edition for Introdans, he got inspired by the place where we come from, the place that is your safe haven; our personal nest. The choreography was guided by live music from Chopin by pianist Frank Peters. The Introdans dancer Hayden Idrus danced with his mother Rosemary Indrus from Australia, Alberto Tardancio with his mother Eugenia Minervale from Italy, Angelica Villalon with her father Rey Villalon from Canada, Brooke Newman with her father Guy Newman from Australia, Mark van Drunick with his sister Jantiene van Drunick from the Netherlands and Jamy Schinkelshoek with her sister Rosa Schinkelshoek, also from the Netherlands.

Hul le Kes asked the dancers to donate their old clothes and collected garments with stains from the local recycling center. After some styling and adjustments on the fit all garments have been dyed in the typical Hul le Kes way to create a beautiful palette of natural colors on stage. Have a look at the photo’s to get an impression of the costumes.
