Helping children to discover their talents

November 23, 2022

On Sunday in the afternoon we gave a guest lecture to a group of young people from the Weekend School Arnhem. By sharing our knowledge and offering them a glimpse into our profession and letting them experience what a circular and socially responsible fashion label entails. This with the aim of inspiring and motivating young people to keep learning.

The foundation LeukOmteLeren is for children from disadvantaged situations in the age of 10 to 14 years. They start with the Weekend School when they are in group 7 and continue up to and including the first year of secondary education. During three years they get to know interesting people from society and business. The Weekend School ensures these encounters through a working method that, in addition to this broadening of the environment, focuses on and develops the talent of the child. Students and professionals inspire each other in this.

At Hul le Kes we like to inspire these young students by introducing them to an alternative fashion system and the beauty of imperfections. Besides sharing our knowledge, during the afternoon the students learned different mending techniques and gave their old clothes a new look.

As a socially responsible fashion label we want to make an impact on society and a reappreciation for people and textiles. Making an impact by helping students to discover and develop their talents and guiding them towards a bright future. It was a pleasure to work with these young talents.
