Embracing complexity

Embracing complexity

Last week I went to our family home in the province of Zeeland. Away from it all to see through the complexities of our society and our company. Immediately followed by two intensive days organized by the IGNITE Award, an award for social entrepreneurship for which we are one of the finalists. I took more than a week to re-examine the complexity of our company.

Circularity… It is a hot topic at the moment and seen by many as the only way to the future. Also we are a proponent of circularity and take it into practice throughout our company, the brand and our personal lives. Although many would like us to believe that a circular economy is quite easy to achieve I think it is much more complex than we all think it is. To think circular and specially to act circular we have to take a look at our personal behaviour first. Circularity is not something that is only about products. Circularity is something that is to be found throughout everything we do, we only need to recognize and acknowledge it as such. To understand what circular is, in my opinion, I would like to take you through our current systems and our modern thinking.
